Office of Communications (Ofcom)

Ofcom is the independent regulator and competition authority for the UK communications industries, with responsibilities across television, radio, telecommunications and wireless communications services. It was established under the Office of Communications Act 2002 by the merging of five previous regulatory bodies: the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC), the Independent Television Commission (ITC) , the Office of Telecommunications (OFTEL), the Radio Autority (RA), and the Radiocommunications Agency. It recieved its legislative authority from the Communications Act 2003
